Music Speaks!

June 8, 2009

This June marks the 30th anniversary of Black Music Month and I kicked it off right by attending  a.k.a. SUBLIMINAL’s CD release party for his debut album TRAINATHOUGHT last Thursday, followed by The Foreign Exchange concert the next day.  Both events were filled to capacity with beautiful people celebrating beautiful music!

Someone once said, “Where words fail, music speaks.”  Here are a few photos from the TRAINATHOUGHT CD release party as well as video footage I took of a.k.a. SUBLIMINAL performing  “It’s Like That”, one of my favourite songs. If you missed my review of TRAINATHOUGHT you can check it out here.  Fans of THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE, can click here to visit their website.

One more thing: I wanted to list a few Canadian Black Music websites however the only one which stood out to me was DJ Sean Sax’s site.  Of course, south of the border there are many websites celebrating Black Music. I happen to love Honey Soul and Jazz.com.  If you know of any others worth mentioning, please let me know.
