Help Haiti Update – Fundraising Events!

As  promised in my Help Haiti post, here are some events happening over the next few days to help raise funds for the relief efforts in Haiti:


Host: Groupe Professionnel Haïtien de Toronto (GPHT)

When: Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:00pm

Place: Revival, 783 College St., Toronto, ON

Cost:  $20.00

Groupe Professionnel Haïtien de Toronto (GPHT) will be joining forces with The Toronto Black Professionals Meet up, First Fridays, the BBPA to present Toronto For Haiti.

This fundraiser is to help survivors overwhelmed by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Join us for an entertaining evening of poetry, song and dance.

Host for the evening will be Mr. Farley Flex, the official ambassador of Unicef in Canada.

Performances By: Terri Oliver, Dwayne Morgan, Promise, a.k.a. SUBLIMINAL, Solitaire, Jacqueline Adele, DJ Carl Allen, Ivan Fialho, Jude Delsouin, Jacques St-Phard, Marc Auguste, Woodney Pierre, Fumuh Jahmez, Claudine Thomas, Pearl Jazz

Special appearance by Raymond Fontaine & Obed Cetoute of the Toronto Argonauts

All money raised from the event will be donated to UNICEF.
UNICEF is providing immediate emergency assistance to children and families affected by the horrifying quake, including medical care and supplies, tents, trauma kits and clean water.

Where: Tattoo Rock Parlour, 567 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON (

Cost:  Any Donations (Pay What You Can)

Music By: DJ Agile (Brassmunk) & DJ Styles

Performances By: Lindo P, Solitair, Lola, Chris Rouse, Imaan Faith, Queen Of Hearts, a.k.a. SUBLIMINAL, Curtis Santiago, Melodic, Natasha Waterman, Waleed, Ania Soul, Najjah & many more.

*All funds raised will be going to “Ayiti, Lacaye Nou” – Toronto activits group who are in direct contact with local Haitian organizations.

*JCOM Clothing will be exclusively selling limited “HI HAITI” tee for $25 @ the concert. $20 of proceeds will be donated to the HOPE for HAITI charity

Some of Canada’s biggest stars will be taking part in an hour long multi-network benefit beginning at 7pm on Friday, January 22nd. Click here for more info.


Immediately following Canada For Haiti is the Hope for Haiti Now telethon at 8pm.

Organized by MTV and actor and activist George Clooney. Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief is a two hour benefit which will feature an all-star list of musical performances from many of the world’s top performers, including Wyclef Jean, Beyonce, Madonna Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Justin Timberlake. The benefit promises to be the most widely distributed telethon in history and will be aired on CBC, CTV, Global, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, CMT and numerous other cable and international networks. It will also be live streamed globally across sites including YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Fancast, AOL,, Yahoo,,,,,, and Rhapsody. Funds raised during the telethon and through the sale of the performances on iTunes will benefit several charities doing work on the ground in Haiti, including Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and Yele Haiti Foundation.
